While raising her children, Margaret became Director of Children's Christian Education for the National Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC - a position incorporating art in the teaching of religion. During this period she also held art instruction classes for the Fairfax County Recreation Programs.

Margaret's art career was termporarily interrupted in the early 1980's when she became the owner of the Great Falls Horse Center. She returned to art after closing the Center in 2002. She is a member of the McLean Art Club, the Vienna Art Society and the Great Falls Studios.

Margaret paints with oil, concentrating on still lifes and landscapes. She also sometimes paints portraits and watercolors. In October-November 2003 she held an exhibit of oil paints in the Great Falls Library - the paintings were mostly of barns in Great Falls as well as still lifes and scenes of Washington, DC as seen from the Virginia side of the Potomac.
